Over 8,000 of the LCM 3 were used by the American and British navies to transport light armoured cars and materials from ship to shore. These landing craft could carry up to 30 tonnes of cargo and were used extensively in Normandy (D-Day), transporting troops, supplies and vehicles such as the Jeep. 640,000 of these robust, light, all-wheel-drive vehicles were used by Allied forces in every theatre of war.
